Software Settings
Telegram
I think the repo version of Telegram is fine?
If the automatic update system doesn't work, I'll write a tiny script to download the website version.
Anyways, here are the settings I use in Telegram:
- Theme is t.me/addtheme/hezkore
- Interface scale 125% on 1080p monitors, 145% on 1440p monitors
- Right click "Archived chats" in the contact list and "Move to main menu"
- Resize Telegram to its minimum size, then drag drag down until 8 contacts are visible
- Settings > Chat Settings
- Font family > "System font"
- Disable "Replace emojis automatically"
- Settings > Notifications and Sounds
- Disable "Desktop notifications"
- Disable "Draw attention to the window" (really?)
- Disable "Allow sounds"
- Scroll down and disable "Include muted chats in unread count"
- Settings > Advanced
- "Automatic media download" > "In private chats", "In groups" and "In channels", disable "Autoplay > Videos"
- Enable "Show tray icon"
- Enable "Launch Telegram when system starts"
- Enable "Launch minimized"
- Enable "Hardware accelerate video decoding"
- Manage dictionaries > Enable "Swedish" (and English if it's not enable)
(wait for the download to finish!) - Experimental settings > Enable "Show tabbed panel by click"
- If desktop theme = "Dracula" & desktop not = "GNOME", Enable "Use system window frame"
